A Look at the 2023/2024 Fundraising Initiatives

At Hayward Twin Oaks Montessori School, we believe in open communication and providing our school community with the opportunity to make informed decisions about their voluntary contributions. We are excited to share our fundraising plan for the 2023/2024 school year, highlighting our goals and where the funds will be allocated.

Your Choice, Your Impact

We understand that every family has unique priorities and circumstances. Therefore, we want to emphasize that there is no requirement or expectation to participate in all fundraising initiatives. Our intention is to provide you with a clear plan, allowing you to align your giving with the causes that resonate most with you and your family. Whether you choose to contribute to one, some, or all of the initiatives, your support makes a significant impact on the education and experiences of our students. Thank you for being an essential part of our school community.

Classroom & Department Fundraising - Ongoing
  • Teachers and Staff send out requests for supplies and other donations-in-kind, usually by an Amazon wish list. Donations-in-kind may be eligible for tax deduction benefit. Donations receipts, where eligible, provided by request only.
  • Teachers and Staff setup up requests for classroom supplies through a third-party, crowd-funding platform “Donors Choose.” Donations-in-kind may be eligible for tax deduction benefit. Donations receipts are provided directly by Donors Choose.
  • Secondary athletic program students may use Snap Raise to fundraise for one-time athletic expenses throughout the season.

Field Trip Fundraising - Ongoing

The field trip permission forms designate a suggested donation amount to cover partial expenses for each student. The school uses general operating funds to cover expenses of all school field trips. Secondary students may initiate personal crowdfunding for over-night trip expenses. Contributions are not eligible for tax deduction.

Community Events

The following events prioritize building community, and do not focus on fundraising from our internal school community. These events may seek sponsorship from corporate donors. Donations in kind may be requested from volunteers for specific activities, like baked goods, crafts, etc. Food and gift contributions may be solicited for Teacher Appreciation Week.

  • Fall Festival – October 28, 2023 – Sponsorships were solicited in 2022 from local businesses to fund the pumpkin patch. Local businesses also contributed gifts-in-kind. The event raised just over $1500. Funds derived from profits at the Fall Festival are allocated to the HTOMS general operating fund. Profits derived from the sale of HTOMS merchandise will be allocated to the Annual Giving Fund initiatives.
  • Acorn Festival – April 20, 2024 – This event was not held in the 22/23 school year and is not expected to have a fundraising component for our school community. We may seek corporate event sponsorship.
  • Teacher Appreciation Week – May 6-10, 2024 - No monetary donations were requested for this event in 2023, and the event did not incur any expense from the school’s operational fund. All contributions were homemade with love.
