Fast Facts about Meals at Golden Oak Montessori

(2020-21 School Year)

 

Golden Oak Montessori participates in the National School Breakfast and Lunch Program.

• Students can buy lunch for $3.35 and breakfast for $2.35. Eligible students may receive meals free of charge or at the reduced-price. See the Free and Reduced Meal Application section for details.

• Money must be added to a student’s Meal Time account in advance so it can be debited out as meals are purchased by the student.

• During Distance Learning, Golden Oak Montessori students can pick up free "grab and go" meals every week. See the Grab and Go Meals During Distance Learning page for details. 

 

 

Revolution Foods

 

Revolution Foods is Golden Oak Montessori's meal service provider. Learn more at www.revolutionfoods.com. Families are encouraged to review the nutritional information for the menu items.

Free/Reduced Meal Applications  

 

Eligible students may receive meals free of charge or at the reduced-price. You or your children do not have to be U.S. citizens to qualify. You must fill out a new Free/Reduced Lunch Application each school year to see if you qualify. An application is below and is available in the office. Please complete and return to the Golden Oak Montessori office for processing. It can be hand delivered or mailed to Golden Oak Montessori, 2562 Vergil Ct., Castro Valley, CA 94546. Families may submit a Free/Reduced Lunch Application at any point during the school year if an income situation has changed. Please contact info@goldenoakmontessori.org for assistance.

Paying for Meals - Adding Money to Meal Time   
Families pay up front for student meal purchases. There are two ways to add money to your student’s meal account. 

Electronic Payments through Meal Time: Money can be added to a student’s account at www.mymealtime.com.There is a 4.9% transaction fee. You will need to enter your student’s school ID number to pay online. (This ID is mailed to all families at the start of the school year.) In-Person Payments: Payments can be made through the Golden Oak Montessori office. We accept cash and checks in exact amounts. (We cannot provide change.) A receipt will be given at time of payment. (During Distance Learning, please contact the office staff in advance to determine a time to come to the school to provide the payment. Charges and Balances

If a student takes a meal they will be charged for it. We encourage families to have a conversation with their child so he/she know whether they can participate in the school meal program.

 

Golden Oak Montessori will allow students to purchase a meal even if they have a negative balance on their lunch account. Outstanding balances must be paid within 2 weeks. Once a week, balance notifications will be sent to families with a negative balance. The balance statement will notify you of the current amount due on your student’s lunch account. Please promptly add funds to your account.

 

If your family is experiencing a financial setback, please contact us so we can help. We are willing to work with you to develop a payment plan for your lunch account. Families can also submit a free/reduced lunch application at any point during the school year. We can assist you in applying for free or reduced lunch if your income situation has changed mid-year. Special Meals and/or Accommodations

 

Students planning to purchase meals that require special food and/or accommodations can submit to the office a Medical Statement to Request for Special Meals and/or Accommodations available below and in the office. To be accepted, the form must be complete and signed by a Licensed Physician, Physician Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner. An updated form must be submitted annually.

Please note that Revolution Foods’ facility is nut free; they do not bring in any product that knowingly contains nuts. Meals cooked and assembled by Revolution Foods are free of nuts. However, Revolution Foods cannot guarantee that any packaged items not produce directly by them (e.g. granola bars, crackers, etc.) are not made in facilities that also produces foods containing nuts. If this is an issue for your student, please remind your student to read the ingredient labels on all pre-packaged items and submit a Medical Statement to Request for Special Meals and/or Accommodations to alert staff.

Students with a religious or vegetarian food need can submit a note from their household to the office.
